Hi, I’m Debra Kay Hetle (most people just call me Deb). My love for animals began when I was six years old and my family moved to a farm in central South Dakota. By age twelve, I was raising bottle lambs with my siblings—what started as a 4-H project quickly became a lifelong passion.
Years later, my husband Paul and I raised our own flock of sheep for over two decades while raising our three children, Philip, April, and Gina. During that time, I discovered that sheep aren’t just farm animals—they’re living lessons. Their dependence, trust, and personalities mirrored what the Bible teaches about us as God’s people and Jesus as our Good Shepherd.
That connection between everyday life and eternal truth is what inspired me to write Squirt, a heartfelt addition to Christian non fiction books. My prayer is that each story not only entertains but also brings readers closer to God’s heart, much like devotional books and daily devotional books help guide us every day.
